I'm obsessed with the process of organizing. I'm wording that very specifically-- I'm an awesome planner. I swear I could be a professional organizer as long as I was organizing other people's things. I plan out the room, how things will work, what kinds of storage are necessary, how long it will reasonably take to accomplish the goal, etc. I read constantly about organizing; I look for new ideas all the time. Organizing myself in real life? Not so much.
I work from home, and in my professional space I am ultra organized except for one basket under my desk where I throw papers and curriculum and texts throughout the week. And even then-- I put it all where it actually belongs at the end of my work week.
In our home, it's not the getting organized that knocks me down, it's that I'm terrible about maintaining organization. I can get it all there in order to get the project done, but I never seem to be able to keep up the daily work of maintaining organization. I'm trying to make certain things part of my daily routine, like making sure I do a quick pick up throughout the house in the evening, and making sure the boys toys are picked up every evening. I'm trying to keep the bathroom counter clear after I get ready each day, and the hardest one of all- not letting the master bedroom become a catch all for extra stuff. I'm working on further developing a daily routine to help me maintain my home better.

Baby Legs
I told you I'd show you a picture of the "Baby Legs" I made yesterday, and here they are:
Cool, huh? I know, I know. I picked out some pretty blah colored socks to make them with, but since I was just trying out the pattern I didn't want to spend a ton on really cool looking socks just to have them get ruined with a bad pattern. Trust me- I'm going back for some more interesting socks to work with!
Here's a pic of the little prince wearing them:
Yes, he's often that happy. Now that he can crawl pretty much anywhere he's a pretty happy camper.

Today's Things
Forgive me that the weblog doesn't look very good yet, but I'll get to it shortly- promise. I'm still learning my way around here.
Today was quite busy. I went shopping with my kids and two of my sisters in preparation for throwing a bridal shower for my 3rd sister who is getting married in June. The shower is Saturday and we've made all kinds of plans-- now to put them into action! We're doing a fondue party so we'll have a lot of prep on the day of the party. Lots of fruit cutting and chocolate melting. Mmmm...
When we went to Target to pick up plates, I also picked up some long men's socks for my 8-month-old son. Why men's socks, you ask? Because I wanted to make him some "baby legs" since he's crawling around and rubbing his poor little knees raw. I made 3 pair this evening in about an hour. It only took that long because I did them by hand instead of with the machine and I was frequently interrupted by kid needs. They were so quick and easy! I'll put up some pictures tomorrow.
I taught in the afternoon, and tried to get a bit of cleaning done in the studio after an early end to my teaching day, but I get too distracted playing with my boys to get much done at one time. We are moving in just 2 weeks, so I really need to get a move on packing up some things. I've been working on a packing/moving schedule. We're just moving across town, so we can start taking things over at any time- we just have to actually get started on it! It's hard to know what can go now and what can't- I don't want to be stuck without something we truly need.
I'm excited to have this space to share. I've been browsing many other blogs that are in the same vein as this one, and I'll be linking in the coming weeks. Some are blogs that I have read religiously for quite awhile, and some are blogs that I have come across in the last week or two that have lent me some kind of inspiration.

Hello world!
Hi, and welcome! You can call me violingirl. In my home life I am married to a wonderful man and I'm a mother to 2 fun little boys. I try to balance my mothering and wife-ness with the music studio that I own and run. I compose music, I sew, I scrapbook; I love to read and write, and I'm an avid blog reader. It's about time I joined the bloggy world.
I'm working to be a good homemaker, mother, wife, business owner, teacher, composer, and woman. I want to bless my husband and my children, but still be good to myself. Above all I am learning how to follow God despite my flaws and how to allow God to work in me to make me better than I can ever be on my own. What a process.
This blog is meant as a place for me to share all the parts of myself. I am learning so much about the meaning of motherhood and about being an excellent wife. I need a place to get it all out and to share my random interests. This is it. :)
