Yarn Along

Or as my boys say "again with all the knitting..." (accompanied by much rolling of eyes, of course!)

I finished another Puerperium cardigan, this one for our own sweet baby girl. I'm still hunting buttons to love for this project and hoping to find them quickly since this little one is coming any day now. I have in my head that she might even wear this little thing home, but we will see how everything goes and how big this "little one" truly is (since she is predicted to be bigger than both of my boys- who were just under and just over 9 pounds a piece...)

I think I've finished or nearly finished all the baby knits I've planned before Baby Girl arrives (just 1 more increase, a few knit rows and the bind off for her blanket!) and I'm ready to move back to some knits for the boys and myself. I did cast on a monster for each of the boys, but working with the yarn Ender chose (Crystal Palace Cuddles) is really hurting my hands so I can only work with it for a few rounds at a time before I have to move to something else. I will finish it, but I don't think I'll work with this particular yarn again. I'm a violinist by trade and really can't afford to have hand/wrist pain developing from a hobby!

I've developed a little obsession with scarves lately and my Rav queue is feeling the weight. I finally ordered yarn for the Shipwreck Shawl that I've long admired and a few different yarns for some scarves to try out some new yarns. I'm most excited about the yarn from Wolle's Yarn Creations. I think I first saw these about two years ago after watching one of Kara's shawls grow from one of those skeins and I have longed for it ever since.  What I was lacking at the time was a real yarn budget and now that I have one I practically leapt at that yarn. It will be here any time now, and of course I'll share here. :)

I've been mostly knitting and not reading when I have free time, but I have been reading Catching Fire again in bits and pieces. I'm trying not to go too quickly through it as my husband is only halfway through Mockingjay and won't take kindly to me stealing it away before he's finished.

What are you knitting these days?

  6. I think your boys and mine must be related with the comments and eye rolling about knitting! Actually, my kids are now much more used to me knitting all the time...now they think it's strange when I don't knit! :)

  13. I made two Puerperiums for my newest little one and loved the button searching as much as the knitting...though I am still on the hunt for a great place to find buttons!
