Organizing

I'm obsessed with the process of organizing. I'm wording that very specifically-- I'm an awesome planner. I swear I could be a professional organizer as long as I was organizing other people's things. I plan out the room, how things will work, what kinds of storage are necessary, how long it will reasonably take to accomplish the goal, etc. I read constantly about organizing; I look for new ideas all the time. Organizing myself in real life? Not so much.

I work from home, and in my professional space I am ultra organized except for one basket under my desk where I throw papers and curriculum and texts throughout the week. And even then-- I put it all where it actually belongs at the end of my work week.

In our home, it's not the getting organized that knocks me down, it's that I'm terrible about maintaining organization. I can get it all there in order to get the project done, but I never seem to be able to keep up the daily work of maintaining organization. I'm trying to make certain things part of my daily routine, like making sure I do a quick pick up throughout the house in the evening, and making sure the boys toys are picked up every evening. I'm trying to keep the bathroom counter clear after I get ready each day, and the hardest one of all- not letting the master bedroom become a catch all for extra stuff. I'm working on further developing a daily routine to help me maintain my home better.
